The Commons at Cedar is a 94 Unit condominium community, built in 1974 on approximately 8 acres. We are located off of Cedar Avenue in a desirable, country-like setting, on the south side of Poughkeepsie, bordered by Vassar Farms and within a few minutes walk to Spratt Park. Conveniently located, we are within short commute to the Metro-North Train Station, Taconic State Parkway, New York State Thruway and Stewart International Airport. Marist College and the Culinary Institute of America are 15 minutes away and Vassar College is less than 2 miles away. Schools, shopping, dining and houses of worship are all close by with many serviced by the Dutchess County Bus System. Two excellent hospitals are located less than 15 minutes from us; Vassar Brothers and MidHudson Regional.
For golf enthusiasts, there are several beautiful golf courses: Dutchess Golf and Country Club, Vassar Golf Course, College Hill, McCann Memorial Golf Course and Casperkill Golf Club. The area is also home of the Walkway Over the Hudson and abundant rail trails for biking and walking. Should you not be a golfer or biker, stay at home and enjoy our swimming pool, clubhouse or tennis court.
Refuse/Recycling Unit Pickups
For the convenience of residents, the Association provides scheduled pickups of regular household garbage and recyclables at units several times a week.
Swimming Pool
Owners, residents and their accompanied guests can enjoy our outdoor swimming pool and deck area adjacent to the clubhouse. The pool is generally open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. We employ no lifeguards and swimming is at your own risk. The pool, area and facilities were completely replaced in 2024.
Community Clubhouse
Our clubhouse contains a kitchen, rest rooms, showers, outdoor patio, barbecue grill, large screen TV, sound system and WiFi. It's a perfect venue for birthday parties, bridal showers or just to hang out and relax. The clubhouse is available to all residents for non-exclusive use. Owners wishing to use the facility for reserved private non-commercial events may rent the clubhouse at a very nominal fee. Several community events are held throughout the year and there's a small lending library provided.
Tennis Court/Pickleball
The Association maintains a tennis court for the enjoyment of owners, residents and guests. Currently 3 Pickleball courts are set up. Some paddles and balls are kept in in the Clubhouse. There is also a Cornhole set available. A regulation size basketball hoop/backboard is also within the court.
